About This Project

Client: The Arts Council of Fayetteville | Cumberland County

Role: Creative Director

Event: The Arts Council’s 41st Annual International Folk Festival, a two-day, multi-stage cultural festival celebrating the food, music, and traditions of the many cultures represented in the community

The Challenge

The International Folk Festival is a large, sprawling event: multiple performance stages, dozens of vendors, an international food court, and two full days of programming. The marketing needed to feel vibrant and global enough to match the festival itself, while still being clear and functional enough to actually help thousands of attendees navigate the event and find what they came for.

What I Did

I designed the full campaign and on-site materials for the festival, including:

  • A storefront window banner series for downtown business displays leading up to the event
  • A highway billboard design promoting the festival’s food, shops, and music
  • A full event map and program guide, laying out every performance area, vendor, and food booth across both festival days
  • Posters, banners, and event signage
  • Digital and print ads including a full page color ad printed in Our State magazine

The Result

A festival identity vibrant enough to stand out on a highway billboard, and detailed enough to double as a functional wayfinding tool once people arrived. The map and guide had to organize a genuinely large amount of information (8 performance areas, dozens of arts and crafts vendors, and a full international food court) without losing the festival’s energy.
